OK I take it there is no winner…
The Winner Is.
OMG dying to know who won??
When do we find out?
I enjoyed them all, but the scansion in many of them left something to be desired.
I’m too late to enter now, but just for fun here is my effort:
In the Ti late one night of Joe Watty,
a Yank asked our genial host what he
could do once he knew
how the poitin to brew,
but he only said, “It would be naughty!”
Looking forward to seeing who wins!

There’s a few islands drifting at sea
With locals friendly as can be
A pint in Joe Watty’s
with gents and some hotties
on the island that’s named after me!
See Joe Wattys, not far from the Quay
For lunch or a fine cup of ” Tae”.
The music and craic
will stop you going back
and give you time for a roll in the hay.
Some facts about a pub called Joe Watty’s-
It’s always quite filled up with bodies!
Mighty Craic to be had,
Listen to some great Trad,
And swap all your troubles for jollies!
“Joe Watty’s is the best” they say;
That pub on an island in Galway bay.
His pints are delicious
The stew is nutritious
And the sessions will make you scream “Way Hey!”
There’s three little rocks off the Emerald Isle
where the folks they do party with passion & style
they all go potty, to get to Joe Watty’s
to eat and to drink for a while.
Visit Joe Wattys bar on Inishmore
Mingle with the locals who beat a path to his door
You’ll enjoy great food, music and mighty craic
Once experienced, you will want to come back
And revive the taste of Guinness they skilfully pour.
I was once on the islands off the coast of the west,
where I met with a girl who’d a maximus chest
I thought I was onto a winner
so I chanced for to take her for dinner
so we went to Joe Watty’s
I thought it was best.
I heard of Joe watty’s one day
It’s a pub and a restaurant they say
So I went to Inis Mór
To check out the score
Ar fheabhas is all I can say
As gaeilge no bearla it still means same
Sure everyone knows Joe Watty’s name
Failte there for every divil and dog
That enters in rain sunshine or fog
Not just local but international fame
When you first set your foot in Kilronan
Make sure that you visit the ruins
But Joe Watty’s pub
Will complete that first thirst
Beware for you’ll love being ruined
“There once was a pub called Joe Watty’s
where drinking pints made us all dotty,
we talked and we sang
till the doorbell rang
and the fright sent us running for the potty!”
Joe Watty’s pints are unbelievable;
So damn good, it’s just unconceivable
Craic agus ceol
Iasc nó feoil?
Whatever your choice, the place is unbeatable!
Tá bialann Joe Watty’s san Árann;
Le craic agus caint sa teach freisin;
Tá an pionta den scoth
Oh, níos fearr ná go maith
Mar gan dabht when you’re done there’s a session!
Joe Watty’s pub’s always hoppin’.
Craic agus ceol, without stoppin’.
Try something new-
Maybe Joe’s Irish stew
Then head off for some nice sweater shoppin’!
I’ve never been to Joes,
But I really want to go,
We’ll have whiskey and gin,
If this prize I do win,
Sure the craic will be mighty and bold!
The welcome at Joe Watty’s was mighty hearty
For my recent mad hen party
The food was great and the drink flowed
I don’t know how much is owed.
All that was missing was a stripper called Marty
The Inis Mor pub of Joe Watty,
Is where the locals survey tourist tottie,
If the night it is cold,
You might be so bold.
To hope to hook up with a hottie
Thanks for your entry. Check out the Aran Islands website.

A place where I’m tasting great beer?
A nice break, but it’s somewhere near?
Somewhere perfect, it’ll welcome you
Throw in great music; and a session or two
It has to be Joe Watty’s, in Kilronan Pier.
It’s to Kilronan that I go
When life is hectic, and annoyingly so.
But in Joe Watty’s, I can have the craic;
Drink my beer and sit right back!

Joe Watty loved that Paul McCartn-ay
“Band on The Run” was his favorite, eh!
His friend’s spell check was broken
Ten points was thus misspoken
So he heard he’d get 10 PINTS a day.

‘Twas right by the sea,
Where he opened the best pub for miles.
On Aran beach lay a seal with a grin,
Thinking tonight it’s fine drink and some sin,
He slithered and rolled to the door of Joe Wattie,
knocked with his nose honking “I’m here for the totty “.
Smiled Joe “Shave those whiskers and I’ll let you in”.
Come all you Folk from near or afar

While in front of the fire on me botty
A ghostly vision I saw
Such a fright that I swore
no more Guinness for me just me cotty.
There was a wee girl called Sinead
Of nothing she was afraid
She’d chug the Guinness back
And laugh loud at the Craic
While sittin’ at Joe Watty’s in the shade
To Inis Mór by ferry from Doolin
To visit the village Kilronan
For a meal at Joe Watty’s
And spot me some hotties
Before I lay me down at Ard Einne.
Off to the Islands we went
Me, Me best friend and a tent
Joe Wattys Bar was the Greatest by far
The best Time we ever spent !
If on Inis Mór you don’t want to get dry

WHO ASKED A NATIVE ”WHAT’S JOE WATTY?”

”THE BEST EVER PUB ON YER NELLY.”
Joe Watty’s bar on the aran isle.
Come for the craic and stay a while.

While a bit of craic and a pint of black always insures that you will come back.
For a hen party I went to Joe Watty’s bar
But he caters for more he does by far
Live music on nightly there’s never a silence
At Joe Watty’s bar on the Aran Islands
A sea trip to Aran is only complete

Your troubles unwind
With sweet music, a pint and good things to eat !

If Joe Watty’s was in Nantucket,
The punters could drink from a bucket,
Full of whiskey or gin,
The full of their skin,
They’d drink ’til they needed to chuck it!
Take a trip out to sweet Inis Mór
That’s a place where there’s fun in great store
There, call in to Joe Totty
And go totally potty
With the craic and the music galore.
On a little rock that lies to the west.
There is a pub that is the best.
Surrounded by water and waves of gold.
There is a fortress there that never gets old.
Fom Dublin to Belfast and Limerick to Cork, magic like this can never be caught.
Across our green land the beauty is rich.
But nothing can hold a candle to this.
To the taste of great food that will blow your mind.
This sure is the best place to wine and dine.
The taste of the steak the smell of the chowder
your sure to think you’ve had some fairy dust powder.
When the music gets going
The horn pipes blowing
Not a sad face in the house, everyones glowing
Jumping around and one two threes
Its not a place you ever want to leave
With legs in the air and hands everywhere
A great pint of guiness is never hard to bare
When sunrise appears theres no need to be sad.
We all no we can always come back.
This wonderful place will sure leave you happy.

There once was a man Joe Watty
from the crossroads to the seal colony
he built a bar
people came from afar
for Guinness, food and frivolity
there is a bar called Joe Watty’s
where you can get quite potty
the Guinness is black
and so is the craic
as you sit by the fire on your botty
If your looking for good food, drink and craic
so much you won’t want to come back
then head to Joe Watty’s
before you get dotty
from the pier just follow the track
Joe Watty is not from Annacotty
Nor has he ever used a potty
Hes a great man
But hes not in a band
And I hear he has an eye for the totty
Joe Watty was a man.
One day he went to the can.
He ended up very sore.
After an hour with a whore.
Now he’s in love with Dan.
People come from near and from far
To drink at Joe Watty’s bar
So get yourself there
By sea or by air
Cos you’ll never make it by car!
