Watch out for the start of leg 4 of the Volvo Ocean Race. There are at least 5 Aran Island boats in the virtual race and we’ll try to report on their progress.

Dell is to make 1900 workers at its Limerick plant redundant over the next 12 months. This will have an impact on Aran Island tourism. Many Limerick people travel to The Aran Islands from Doolin in Co.Clare. These visitors will be sorely missed and can only lead to further serious concerns for the 2009 tourist season.
